MAG-CY Selected for SGAC Achieved Orbital 2026 Programme

MAG-CY has been selected for SGAC’s Achieved Orbital 2026 programme as the only team representing the island of Cyprus.

MAG-CY has been selected for the Achieved Orbital 2026 programme organised within the Space Generation Advisory Council, marking an important international milestone for the team.

The programme received applications from 55 teams representing 47 different countries. Among the selected teams, MAG-CY is the only team representing the island of Cyprus.

Exploring Ferrofluids in Microgravity

MAG-CY, which stands for “MAGnetic Fluid Experiments in Microgravity – CYprus”, will investigate the behaviour of ferrofluids under controlled magnetic fields in a microgravity environment.

The project aims to study physical phenomena that are difficult to isolate and observe under Earth's gravitational conditions.

By examining how ferrofluids respond to magnetic fields in microgravity, the project may contribute to further understanding in the fields of fluid physics and space research.

Representing Cyprus on an International Stage

Being selected for Achieved Orbital 2026 gives the MAG-CY team the opportunity to further develop its project within an international environment.

Through this programme, the team also aims to represent the island of Cyprus and Turkish Cypriots within the international space and science community.

This achievement is not only an important milestone for our team, but also an exciting step for the future of space research and innovation in Cyprus.

MAG-CY’s participation in Achieved Orbital 2026 also represents an important step towards increasing the international visibility of space science, research and innovation initiatives emerging from Cyprus.

For MAG-CY, the journey is just beginning.
